Boxing TV Schedule: Week of July 31 – August 6
Saturday night on ESPN, Vasyl Lomchenko defends his WBO super featherweight title.

Friday, August 4
9:00pm ET – ESPN
Mauricio Herrera vs. Jesus Soto Karass, Vyacheslav Shabranskyy vs. Todd Unthank-May

Herrera is coming off of a win but, prior to that, lost to Frankie Gomez and Pablo Cesar Cano in somewhat lackluster performances. Soto Karass is by no means an easy opponent despite his veteran reputation, but if Herrera is back to his understated ways, he should be able to get the win. Shabranskyy is coming off of an upset stoppage loss to Sullivan Barrera against Unthank-May, the undefeated mentee to Bernard Hopkins. Still, Unthank-May is a somewhat raw prospect so it will be interesting to see if Shabranskyy’s experience is the differentiating factor.

10:30pm ET – SHOWTIME (ShoBox)
Nikki Adler vs. Claressa Shields, Sonny Fredrickson vs. Bakhtiyar Eyubov

ShoBox delivers exactly what it’s supposed to: two of the sport’s most promising young fighters in challenging bouts. Shields is fighting for a world title in only her fourth professional bout, versus the undefeated champion Adler, who is no slouch. Fredrickson is another talented hopeful to keep a sharp eye on, and he has his hands full on Friday with the tough Eyubov.

Saturday, August 5
10:00pm ET – ESPN
Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Miguel Marriaga, Ray Beltran vs. Bryan Vasquez

Lomachenko appears to be a great talent, but he’s matched carefully here against Marriaga, who has a lot of heart but should be no match for the Ukrainian two-time Olympic Gold Medalist. The undercard bout is more interesting: Beltran, coming off of an impressive KO win, is in tough against Vasquez, who has lost a decision to the impressive and slick Javier Fortuna but has defeated the sneaky and underrated Sergio Thompson. It should be an entertaining match-up.
