Saturday night in Los Angeles, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. decisioned WBC middleweight champion Sebastian Zbik to win the WBC middleweight title by majority decision.

Two judges scored it 115-113 and 116-112 for Chavez, while the third judge scored the bout a 114-114 draw.

Chavez upped his record to 43-0-1 (30 KOs), while Zbik, in his first fight outside Europe, suffered his first loss and fell to 30-1 (10 KOs).

“I will have to fight a long time and win many more titles to be the equal of my father,” said Chavez Jr. “I would like to win more titles and create an excellent career, but there are no shortcuts or easy roads to victory.”
