“I think it’s a fight that everyone wants to see. I mean why not? He’s been off for two years and I’ve been off for like a year now…”

“I’m looking forward to coming back to the UK to resume my career there, hopefully against Tyson Fury.”—Shannon “The Cannon” Briggs

Shannon “The Cannon” Briggs has a professional record of 60-6-1, 53 KO’s. Brigg’s career speaks for itself and is one of the only veterans still left in the game who has fought some of the greats. Owning his own self-promotion with his iconic catchphrase “Let’s Go Champ!” in the UK he is probably more famous than Deontay Wilder, just because of his sheer presence. He has recently come under some scrutiny, but this what the man himself told Boxing.com about the whole predicament, and where he stands at present within the fight game.

Okay, first question for Shannon Briggs, have you got your boxing licence back and are you ready to fight again?

Not yet, I will be off suspension as of November 14th, 2017. Then I’ll be back in action early December or late next year.

Can you tell us about the whole drugs scandal?

I mean to me there really wasn’t any drugs scandal. It was just I got caught taking testosterone which I was prescribed by my doctor for depression, and that is something which I have spoken about in the past. Nothing I have hidden. I mean you know, it was something my doctor prescribed, and I was taking it. That’s a fact. Also, medical marijuana that was prescribed, which is something that I was trying to come off, but it helped me with my joint pain and my mental depression. The different thing is that for a long time it was something I was afraid to talk about, but you know unfortunately the fight was called off. Everything happens for a reason, and I am looking forward to coming back.

So, your current beef, what’s going on with Tyson Fury?

Well, right now I’m trying to put on negotiating, and trying to get a fight going with Tyson Fury. I’ve been calling him out for some time now, and he answered back on Twitter, but we don’t know what’s going to happen with that. If not, I’m going to come over to England, and hopefully I’ll be fighting in London. And then I’ll go to Ireland or Scotland or vice-versa. I’m looking forward to that, and that it will be my comeback. My last fight was in London at the 02 Arena over a year ago. I’m looking forward to coming back to the UK to resume my career there, hopefully against Tyson Fury. I think it will be a great fight for the UK. I’m a well-known guy for my antics, and Tyson Fury is a very well-known outspoken guy for his antics as well. So, I think it will be a great fight that people want to see, and the press conference will for sure be tasty.

Do you really want to fight him? And do you ever seriously see him coming back?

Yeah, I’m serious about fighting him, if he mans up and grows some balls. Hopefully, he comes back as it’s a great fight for the both of us. He’s a good man, and I’m a big man, I think it’s a fight that everyone wants to see. I mean why not? He’s been off for two years and I’ve been off for like a year now. I think it’ll be great, I’m going to be back in the UK within the next couple of weeks, let’s see if we can make something happen. I’ve been calling Frank Warren, and we spoke to Frank Warren, and I can’t wait. Let’s Go Champ!

Briggs is only looking for a good payday. He is a load mouth that with that stupid saying of his with LET GO CHAMP is more annoying to all around him. He is a junkie looking for more than he deserves . Always wants a title shot when he doesn’t deserve any form of one. If he wants to fight he should have to work his way up the ladder like all the others.

Briggs is a wonderful human being….still…..at this point in his evolution a Vitali class beating would do him just a world of good!
