Haye vs. Fury Rescheduled
The accident-prone Haye has the skills and experience to end the Tyson Fury experiment.

The recently postponed fight between David Haye and Tyson Fury has been rescheduled for February 8 in Manchester, England.

That’s good news for fight fans, and perhaps good news for the heavyweight division, since one of these gents will lose, which may in turn bring some order to boxing’s marquee division.

“News of the date in February is music to my ears,” said Haye. “I was absolutely devastated this weekend, and felt as though I’d let a lot of people down. But now, with this new date, I couldn’t be happier.”

It wouldn’t the first time Haye let his fans down, but maybe it will be the last.

“My fans will still get the chance to see what they all wanted to see this weekend—they’ll get to see Tyson Fury sparked out in a spectacular fashion.”

Fury and his team, and just about everyone else, questioned why Haye was still sparring days before the fight.

“Sparring eight days before a fight is nothing new or unusual,” he explained. “I’ve done this before fights in the past and never had an issue.

“Also, look at the history books. George Foreman sparred and got cut eight days before his ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ with Muhammad Ali—causing a six-week postponement—and Sugar Ray Leonard sparred and got knocked down five days before his fight with Marvin Hagler, but still managed to go on and win.

“These things sometimes happen in training, and to suggest I decided against wearing a head-guard, or that the cut was premeditated, shows a clear lack of knowledge and understanding.”

The accident-prone Haye has the skills and experience to end, or at least slow down, the Fury experiment. The Irishman is a character who has brought some much needed life to our sport. But if Steve Cunningham could drop him, David Haye should do the same and more often, if he can keep himself out of harm’s way until then.

Yes, Danny, I tend to feel the same way after too much of Haye’s drama queen antics.

How many times has Haye done this now? I really hope Fury can pull out the win if and when they actually fight. Haye is the type of fighter who is terrible for the sport. Fury, as the writer said, brings alot of charisma and personality to a division in the sport which has been missing both for a long time.

If David’s Christmas tree falls on him, we could be looking at a further postponement until the summer.
