Heaven Can Wait

Heaven Can Wait
Cynthia Castillo walked to the open casket and kissed Macho Camacho on the mouth.

For Hector Camacho, it was Macho Time in life as well as death.

According to Puerto Rican media reports, a cat fight broke out between several of Camacho’s women during a viewing of his body earlier this week.

A “scratching match” between the murdered fighter’s longtime girlfriend, his alleged mistress, and his despondent but rambunctious sisters disrupted was what ostensibly a solemn occasion.

Cynthia Castillo, who insists she was Camacho’s girlfriend at the time of his death, walked to the open casket and kissed the slain boxer on the mouth. That ruffled feathers. But then she walked to a section for family members to get something to eat and her plateful of food was unceremoniously knocked from her hands.

That’s when all hell broke loose.

Gloria Fernandez, who claimed to have been Camacho’s girlfriend for the past 25 years (and an interesting 25 years it must have been) and Camacho’s sisters Esther and Estrella went at it tooth and nail with Castillo.

“I went to get something to eat because Machito (Hector Camacho Jr.) told me to,” Castillo told ESPN Deportes, “and his ex-girlfriend came up to me and told me that I had to leave. I said no, so they threw my plate of food and attacked me, and I defended myself.”

Gloria Fernandez and Camacho’s sisters had nothing to say to the press. Not that it mattered, since Castillo wasn’t done.

“I am the actual girlfriend of Macho,” she said, “and those who don’t like it better not bring it. They shouldn’t be going after me. They should be thanking me for being with him at all times.”
