Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker (22-0, 16 KOs) will have a homecoming bout this Saturday, August 19 in Dallas, Texas when he faces off against Courtney “Lion Heart” Jackson (17-0, 10 KOs) in a 10-round junior welterweight fight. The bout will take place at the Omni Dallas Hotel as part of “A Knock Out Affair” Round XXV, an annual black tie fundraiser for the Mid-Cities chapter of The Links Incorporated, a volunteer service organization of extraordinary women committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.

Hooker, who hails from Oak Cliff, TX—just outside Dallas—will be fighting in his hometown area for the first time since June 2015, when he stopped Eduardo Galindo to win his NABO junior welterweight title. Saturday’s fight versus Jackson will be Hooker’s fifth title defense.

“It’s great to be back to defend my title in my home town where I first won it a little over two years ago,” Hooker said. “To do so on behalf of an amazing organization like The Links for their 25th anniversary event is my honor. I have been working around the clock at Maple Avenue Boxing Gym preparing for this event.”

The event will also include four additional fights featuring Dallas area talent, including super featherweight Carlos Adame Jr., super welterweight Chelsey Griffin, lightweight David Fabela, and welterweight Greg Jackson, a Philadelphia native now training out of Dallas.

Tickets for the event start at $150 and are available for purchase at or by calling 817-323-8755.
