Sergey Kovalev (30-2-1) returns to the ring following his two defeats to Andre Ward on November 25 in Madison Square Garden. He takes on the powerful Ukrainian Vyacheslav Shabranskyy (19-1). Shabranskyy has rebounded from a defeat to Sullivan Barrera with two wins. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds.

“I learned a lot from my fights with Andre Ward,” said Kovalev. “When you don’t win and when you suffer adversity, it makes you stronger.” Shabranskyy’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya claimed “Vyacheslav Shabranskyy is back, and ready to prove he will do everything to climb to the top, including facing a top-level fighter such a Kovalev.”
