Mike Tyson sightings have been few and far between, for which many are grateful. The former heavyweight champion, as well known for his heavy hands as for his public meltdowns, has been keeping a low profile. He’s nothing less than an integral part of boxing history and deserves our respect. That he’s crashed and burned more times than a loop of the Hindenburg is beside the point.
We’re chock full of feelings, opinions, about Tyson and everything else. Some won’t forgive Tyson for not being Ali. Some won’t forgive Wladimir Klitschko for not being Tyson. But for the middle-grounders out there, the New York Times Magazine recently published an update on Tyson’s suburbanization that is heartfelt, beautifully written, and worth reading.
