Lomachenko vs. Rigondeaux
One-sided wins do not serve the fighters. They do not serve the fights. (lorenelise8)

Rigondeaux, who was treated shabbily by Top Rank and HBO, may finally get the fight he wants and deserves…

Those of us who love boxing want to see the best fight the best. One-sided wins pad the victor’s record. They do not serve the fighters. They do not serve the fights.

One of the fights that many want to see is between WBO featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (4-1, 2 KOs), from Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, Ukraine, and WBA/WBO super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (15-0, 10 KOs), from Miami, by way of Santiago de Cuba, Cuba.

Both fighters are exceptional. Both fighters are decorated Olympians. And while four pounds separates them, Lomachenko weighs 126 to Rigondeaux’s 122, the fighters have agreed, at least in principle, to fight.

Lomachenko’s manager, Egon Klimas, has proposed a catchweight of 124 pounds, which Gary Hyde, Rigondeaux’s manager, has accepted.

Lomachenko is the naturally bigger man. He has two inches on Rigondeaux and fought one of his fights at 125 pounds. Rigondeaux, by contrast, needs to beef up to make 122, so he’ll be at a disadvantage going in.

“We would insist on a rehydration clause of 135 pounds for fight night,” said Hyde. “If Klimas agrees to this, then we have a fight. Lomachenko is a masterful fighter like Rigo and this match- up will be a classic. We have a pair of two-time Olympic gold medalists and current world champions going at it. I believe Rigo is the more ferocious of the two fighters and I firmly believe he will dominate Lomachenko. Klimas, you know what you must do to make the fight, just pick up the phone and call me. Rigo is ready!”

If that doesn’t sound like a done deal it’s because it’s not a done deal. But with Nicholas Walters out of the running to fight Lomachenko, it sounds like Rigondeaux, who was treated shabbily by Top Rank and HBO, may finally get the fight he wants and deserves.

Rigo should step up if he wants to fight Lomo.
I see Lomachenko out boxing him with this super movement around the ring.
    I think Rigo get’s exposed.
Well hopefully the fight happens with out any silly Clause involved!

” I believe Rigo is the more ferocious of the two fighters ”  THAT is the just as stupid as Atlas saying Thurman is the most athletic boxer today.
If Rigo fought like Lomachenko I would like to watch him - but he doesn’t because he is the opposite of ferocious.

I don’t like the catch weight.
Though I’m all for the re hydration clause.

This could be a great boxing match.

With this fight and this win Guillermo Rigondeaux will start showing to everyone how talented a fighter he is, and everyone who was running from him will be forced to fight him.

Catch weights….now rehydration clauses….what next…..equipment handicaps as one fighter has 8 oz. gloves the other 10 oz…...or….one gets to wear head gear or another has to go in without a mouthpiece. Either you want the fukin’ fight or you don’t…..make up your fukin’ mind.

Wow! very interesting fight if this really materialize. This is not the first time Rigo is gonna face a bigger opponent. He schooled Donaire some time ago. Well see how he handles Lomachenko this time. Lomachenko is excellent as Rigo, but I dont think he is withouth flaws. This may be a big break and challenge as well for Rigondeaux. Winning in this fight will do great for either men.
