The fight between Manny and Mayweather sucked. Pacquiao hurt himself in training, a well kept secret until it was over, and fight fans were irate.

Similar feelings might be expressed at the conclusion of Mayweather-McGregor.

The fact that Manny fought Mayweather, albeit with one arm, affords him a perspective that those who have not fought him lack.

When asked about the upcoming fight, Manny said, according to Yahoo! Sports, “McGregor has no chance in this fight. In fact, it could be very boring.”

Most of Floyd’s fights have been boring. The guys who caught him and rumbled did best. McGregor is of that school. Maybe he’ll get lucky.

With the notable exception of Tyson Fury, who boldly goes where angels fear to tread and predicted a first round knockout, more sensible folk seriously doubt that McGregor will land many punches.

“There is no way he will be able to land a meaningful punch on Floyd,” said Manny, speaking from experience. “How could he? He (McGregor) has no professional experience in boxing.”

There’s the rub. Manny is right, but why split hairs?

Mayweather has been a ‘runner’ over his entire boxing career; its a wonder his head is not growing on his right shoulder. If McGregor catches him in a corner there is going to be a lot of runny yolk on a hell of a lot of faces across America. He obviously has the mental and physical ability to win this fight: provided of course that the blight that has followed boxing since it started making money for promoters; eg that a ‘fix’ is not already in.
