Manny Pacquiao first met Marco Antonio Barrera at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, on Nov. 15, 2003. Barrera, aka the Baby Face Assassin, was 57-3 and would have been a great fighter in any era. Pacquiao was 37-2-1 and his greatness was apparent if not wholly understood. Barrera had won his last eight fights since his loss to Erik Morales in 2000, whereas Pacquiao had won his last 12. It wasn’t exactly a pick ‘em fight, but on paper Barrera looked like stiff competition for the Filipino whirlwind. Then the opening bell sounded…
