If you follow boxing, you know that Floyd Mayweather (49-0) returns to the ring on August 26th to box UFC champion Conor McGregor (0-0). Boxing fans have strong and mixed feelings on the bout but I projected the undercard as a saving grace. Now the bout list has been released, is it strong enough to placate boxing fans.

The co-headliner is for the IBF Super Featherweight Title. Gervonta Davis (18-0), a personal favorite of mine, will defend his title against Francisco Fonseca (19-0-1). The Costa Rican has won 19 straight after a draw in his debut and is trained by lower weight legend Ivan Calderon. As a huge Davis fan, this announcement left me slightly disappointed. Names like Orlando Salido and Roman Martinez had been bandied about. Both are known quantities but tough fighters and we would have learnt more about Davis.

The WBA Light Heavyweight title will also be contested for. Badou Jack (21-1-2) will be looking to take the belt off Welshman Nathan Cleverly (30-3). The studious Welshman won the title off Juergen Brahmer last year but faces a tough task to retain his title. Badou Jack has moved up from the super middleweight division which he was a world champion and left following a superb draw with James DeGale at the beginning of the season.

Andrew Tabiti (15-0) considered a rising star of the Cruiserweight division will attempt to win the NABF Title. He will take on experience veteran Steve Cunningham (29-8-1). Cunningham is a former IBF Cruiserweight champion who could become the story of this card given his reasons for fighting over the last few years. This is a showcase for Tahiti and he spoke of how happy he is to be given this chance.

The non-PPV portion of the card is also very strong. Shawn Porter (27-2-1) is one of the top boxers in a loaded welterweight division who always brings it. He takes on Thomas Dulorme (24-2). Also on the FOX card will be a clash between two undefeated light welterweight in Juan Heraldez (12-0) and Miguel Borrego (13-0). Heraldez is an impressive Mayweather prospect whilst Borrego, at only 19, is riding an 11 fight knockout streak. Kevin Newman (7-0-1) and Savannah Marshall will also be featured on the undercard.
