Roger on Floyd’s Return

Roger on Floyd’s Return

Floyd Mayweather Jr.‘s uncle and present trainer, Roger Mayweather, says his nephew has not abandoned boxing and expects to fight Miguel Cotto or WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz, who recently burst the Andre Berto bubble, within the year.

“Yeah, he will come back this year,” Mayweather told Boxing Scene. “I don’t know when, probably by end of summer it will be his next fight. He’s got a deal with, what’s his name, Jim Jones (oops! wrong sport), Jerry Jones? I mean, he’s planning on resuming his career.”

Jerry Jones, who’s tight with Top Rank’s Bob Arum, owns the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the venue where Manny Pacquiao fought and beat Josua Clottey and Antonio Margarito.

When asked if the fact that Pacquiao fought in Cowboys Stadium suggests that a fight between Floyd and Manny is, if not a done deal, in the cards, Mayweather said, “I don’t think it’s that. I think it’s a different audience for him. It’s a place he hasn’t really seen or fought in. I think it’s going to be an outstanding crowd for him to go in there and fill that stadium up, see how many people he can draw.

“But it’s going to be that much better to draw it to the fight for Pacquiao.”

Floyd Mayweather Jr. will fight again, even though he’s never indicated that he likes to fight, at least inside the ring. Getting it on with Pacquiao means jeopardizing his unbeaten record. Will Mayweather run the risk?

The only thing he will run is the hell away from Pacman like he has been doing for years. Good luck in jail Pretty Boy. Dont drop the soap!
