Boxing Commissions Strive to Improve Judging

Several Boxing Commissions have recently taken an important step toward improving professional judging.  Puerto Rico, Illinois, Ohio, Florida, Missouri, and Georgia have started tracking all of their round by round scores and are entering them into an online database. From there, a software called the Pod-Index measures all of the scores to determine each judge’s level of consistency (in other words, agreement).  This software serves as a tool to look for anomalies and patterns.  The software is also a great way to store the score cards electronically in case they need to be reviewed in the future.

The commissions should be commended for their innovative efforts toward improving professional judging in their jurisdictions.
