The Ring is Counted Out
For anyone concerned with objectivity in sports journalism, Goldman's piece is a must-read

Former Ring magazine columnist Ivan Goldman has written a wonderful piece in the current issue of Columbia Journalism Review. His article is full of feeling, highly literate, and deserves all the attention it receives.

‘The Ring Is Counted Out’ addresses how Golden Boy Promotions, with its purchase of the so-called “Bible of Boxing,” has debased the long-respected RING magazine and its brand, and in so doing has further debased boxing.

For anyone concerned with integrity and objectivity in sports journalism, not to mention the future of our beloved sport, Goldman’s article is a must-read.

If you haven’t read it yet, do yourself a favor and take a few minutes to read it now.

I grew up with The Ring being an important part of my monthly joy. I gave up on it years ago and it’s sunk even lower than it was when I finally called it quits. Mike you are so right - it is no longer relevant.

Ivan Goldman….hell yeah! While we’re on the subject…the only things missing when Oscar swooned for Hopkins were the wig, lipstick, garter belt, fishnets, and stiletto heels!

Sadly true. I just hope Nat Fleischer is sleeping peacefully and is blissfully unaware of all this odious garbage. Even his famous old museum was apparently ransacked by some well known characters.

The RING is totally conflicted and therefore is no longer relevant.
