The Walkover

The Walkover
Sometimes they (including Chuck Giampa) get it right even if Steve Farhood had it wrong

No one gave Justin Williams much of a chance against Alfonso Lopez. After all, Lopez gave Kelly Pavlik all he could handle last May losing an MD. Moreover, Justin’s record was a not-so-flattering 3-5-1 against Lopez’s 22-2. However, a review of William’s opponents revealed a composite won-lost record of 69-8-3 which should have served as a mild warning.

But as the fight progressed on Showtime, something unusual happened. The walkover decided he would not be walked over. After a close first round, Williams uncorked a long left hook followed by a lethal right that almost put Lopez back in Cut and Shoot, Texas. After that, the fight was fought on even terms meaning that by all fair standards, the 3-5-1 fighter would win. And he did!

Sometimes they (including Chuck Giampa) get it right even if Steve Farhood had it wrong.
