Lou DiBella said “a main event of the magnitude of Thurman vs. Porter requires both fighters be healthy and at their best…”

The championship fight between WBA World welterweight champion Keith Thurman (26-0, 22 KOs) and former IBF World welterweight champion Shawn Porter (26-2-1, 16 KOs) was scheduled for March 12 at Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut.

That fight, one of the most anticipated fights of the year, has unfortunately been postponed.

Thurman suffered a neck injury in a car accident, and while the injuries are not considered serious, they are serious enough to have postponed a marquee PBC fight on CBS.

“While it’s unfortunate that we must temporarily postpone this marquee matchup,” said the fight’s promoter Lou DiBella, “a main event of the magnitude of Thurman vs. Porter requires both fighters be healthy and at their best. Keith is anxious to resume training as soon he is able and both he and Shawn are looking forward to a new fight date.”

    Hmm,
    Now I’m smelling fish.

    Anyone got any pictures?
    Specially X-rays?
I would understand if it were a slipped disc or whiplash.  Other than that I see nothing more than excuse.

    Sad if it is.
