On Wednesday at the World Boxing Council’s 55th annual convention, mandatory fights for each division’s champions were ordered and announced. They are as follows:

Minimumweight: Champion Wanheng Menayothin will have a voluntary defense in November.  The #1 contender remains Leroy Estrada.

Light flyweight: Champion Ken Shiro fights number one contender Pedro Guevara. The winner of that must then face #2 ranked Ganigan Lopez.

Flyweight: Champion Daigo Higa fights Thomas Masson in a voluntary defense on October 22nd.

Super flyweight: Champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai requested a voluntary defense against #1 rated Juan Francisco Estrada.

Bantamweight: The WBC Clean Boxing Program has not yet ruled on the positive drug test for champion Luis Nery. #2 contender Emmanuel Rodríguez will fight a final eliminator against #3 ranked Petch Sor Chitpattana.

Super bantamweight: Champion Rey Vargas fights mandatory contender Julio Ceja, who won the final eliminator.  #2 ranked Diego De La Hoya will fight a final eliminator vs. #3 rated Hugo Ruiz.

Featherweight: Champion Gary Russell to face Jo Jo Diaz next. That bout will be mandated for around May 2018.

Super featherweight: Champion Miguel Berchelt will make a voluntary defense against Orlando Salido in December. Francisco Vargas (#2 ranked) and Jhonny Gonzalez (#3 rated) will fight a final eliminator.

Lightweight: Champion Mikey García will fight Diamond champion Jorge Linares.

Super lightweight: If champion Terence Crawford vacates, #1 contender Amir Imam will fight #3 rated Jose Carlos Ramirez for the title. Meanwhile, #2 ranked Regis Prograis will fight #4 rated Viktor Postol for the interim title.

Welterweight: Champion Keith Thurman returns to the ring in January following his injury, while mandatory contender Shawn Porter fights Adrian Granados on November 4th for the silver title.

Super welterweight: Champion Jermell Charlo makes his mandatory defense on October 14th against Erickson Lubin. The winner of the semifinal between #4 ranked Maaclej Sulecki and #5 rated Jack Culcay will then face #3 ranked Vanes Martirosyan.

Middleweight: A direct rematch between champion Gennady Golovkin and Saúl “Canelo” Alvarez has been ordered by the WBC.  #1 contender Jermall Charlo will fight an available contender.

Super middleweight: Champion David Benavidez will have a rematch with Ronald Gavril.  This Saturday, #3 ranked Avni Yildirim fights #4 rated Chris Eubank Jr.

Light heavyweight: Champion Adonis Stevenson will face mandatory contender Eleider Alvarez in December.

Cruiserweight: Champion Mairis Briedis is participating in the World Boxing Super Series tournament. So it’s whoever emerges as the winner.

Heavyweight*: Champion Deontay Wilder awaits the findings of the positive doping test from #2 ranked contender Luis Ortiz. #1 contender Bermane Stiverne fights #6 rated Dominic Breazeale, to fight the winner of the championship bout.

*Note: The heavyweight title situation was later clarified by the WBC on social media. Wilder’s opponent Luis Ortiz was replaced by Bermane Stiverne for the November 4 date.
