Matchroom Boxing announced another card taking place at the O2 in London. It is on June 3rd and will take place as always on Sky Sports.
The headliner will be Dillian Whyte (20-1, 15 KOs), the trash-talking Londoner by way of Port Antonio, Jamaica, edging his way towards a world title shot. He takes on Mariusz Wach (33-2, 17 KOs), from Krakow, Poland.
The Pole has lost twice when stepping up to world title level, against Povetkin and Klitschko but managed to take Klitschko the distance. He has beaten Christian Hammer, Konstantin Airich, Tye Fields and Erkan Teper. He is ranked in the top ten by the WBC and top fifteen by the IBF.
Wach looks a step up from Chisora and is ultra durable. He is slow and not a massive puncher which should give Whyte a big opportunity to win this fight with his movement.
“I’ve been working hard to be a stand-alone headline fighter and to headline against someone of the stature of Mariusz Wach is great,” Whyte told Sky Sports. “I want to fight for a world title in the next year. I’m in a good position to be in with my rankings but I know that Wach is a dangerous customer and can ruin my dreams, so I have to be at my very best and take him out in style to prove I mean business at the top level.”
Frank Buglioni will be the main support in his rescheduled bout with unbeaten Ricky Summers. Jake Ball, Reece Bellotti, Isaac Chamberlain, Ted Cheeseman, Danny Dignum, Lawrence Okolie and Craig Richards will also feature.
