Wilder Humbles Gavern
The Bronze Bomber kept his unbeaten record and knockout streak alive Saturday night.

Next up for Deontay Wilder is his long awaited showdown with WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne…

Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs), from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, kept his unbeaten record and knockout streak alive by forcing Jason Gavern (25-17-4, 11 KOs), from Orlando, Florida by way of Harrisonburg, Virginia, to quit on his stool after four bruising rounds.

Ranked #1 by the WBC, Wilder dropped his sledgehammer right on Gavern at will and dropped him in the third and fourth rounds.

Considering that Gavern was out of shape and undeserving to be in the ring with the man being touted as America’s best hope to become heavyweight champ, he came to fight, if not necessarily to win, since winning was never in the cards when this match was made.

It was only a matter of time before Wilder punched the fight out of Gavern. When he was wavering in the fourth, having eaten about as much leather as he was willing to eat, the referee Jack Reiss, knowing the answer, asked Gavern if there was anything wrong.

Gavern surprised the ref by replying, “Do you have any oxygen?” which Wilder had pretty much sucked out of the open-air arena.

Next up for Wilder is his long awaited showdown with WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne. It will be interesting to see how Wilder reacts when Stiverne lands one of those bombs on that pointy chin.

“The Great Black Hope?” Yeah, but no one in the media would have the sack to say it. Of course “they” never had a problem with the label “The Great White Hope.” Kind of like when a “hush crime” aka a brutal Black on White assault or murder is swept under the rug, but we get 24/7 coverage on Ferguson, Missouri or Trayvon Martin for days and sometimes months.
